Leasing Officer I

This position provides support to the Cambridge Housing Authority’s Leased Housing Department by ensuring the accurate processing of data related to initial certification of applicants for both the public housing and leased housing programs. The incumbent assists in waitlist management, scheduling appointments and the recertification of current participants in the public housing and leased housing programs as well as assists with initial lease-up and file packaging for public housing.  Responsibilities also include activities related to the determination of eligibility, preparation of documents related to either program participation or tenancy, and assistance to a Leasing Officer II or other administrator as needed and assigned. Reports to the Director of Leased Housing.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. One (1) to two (2) years of college, business or technical school is desirable. Previous work experience in a similar work environment is preferred. Experience in dealing with the public, particularly low-income, disabled or elderly individuals is desirable. Knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher program or public housing is preferred. Fluency in multiple languages is desirable. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Needs strong computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Outlook) typing, and calendaring skills. Ability to learn other computer software programs may be required by assigned tasks.

Pay Grade 7-Salary: $ 23.89/hr

ASSISTANT PLANNER
 
The Cambridge Housing Authority seeks applicants for the above referenced position within the Planning and Development Department of the agency. This is a responsible entry-level administrative position dedicated to the planning of affordable housing with emphasis on modernization and redevelopment of public housing. General responsibilities include: assistance with preparation of pro formas, evaluation of physical improvement needs of properties, preparation of funding proposals and Requests for Proposals, and administration of contracts for consulting architect and engineers. Other responsibilities include coordination of activities involving consulting architects and engineers, resident councils, other CHA departments and funding agencies. Occasional evening meetings with residents and neighborhood groups are also responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the social sciences and experience in housing or planning and public administration required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Prior experience with real estate development is also helpful.
