The MTW Voucher Program, frequently referred to as the "Section 8" Program is a subsidized housing program open to families, elders and individuals with disabilities earning up to 50% of the
Area Median Income (AMI) for Cambridge.
The voucher program provides eligible households a housing subsidy that allows them to rent privately owned market rate apartments. Typically, voucher holders pay around 30% of their income towards their rent, with CHA paying the rest. There is a cap on the amount CHA will pay towards rent for an apartment in Cambridge, called the
Payment Standard.
