CHA Recognizes Deeqo Jibril for her accomplishments post participation in the Housing Choice Voucher Program

Former CHA Voucher Program Participant named a
Massachusetts
Commission on the Status of Women 'Unsung Hero'
On November 15, 2011, Deeqo Jibril addressed attendees of the
National College Transition Network's
plenary luncheon as their student keynote speaker. Ms. Jibril, a former Cambridge Housing Authority voucher holder spoke of
how CHA's
Bridge to College Program helped her reach her goals and shared her inspiring personal experience with all attendees.
Ms. Jibril is the Executive Director and Founder of the
Somali Community and Cultural Association (SCAA
)
, a community-based, social service organization for Somalian women in Boston which aims to promote transition and success for immigrant Somali families. SCAA provides services including parental education programs, leadership development, assistance with securing affordable housing and healthcare services, and support to combat domestic violence.
CHA applauds Ms. Jibril's desire to give back and serve her community. We wish her continued and lasting success!
